In 2025, the United States will impose tariffs on China

2025-03-04

  1. On February 1, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 10% tariff on Chinese imports.
  2. The US policy of imposing 25% tariffs on Chinese steel, aluminum products and related derivatives will take effect on March 12.
  3. On February 28, Trump announced that from March 4, tariffs on China are expected to be increased by 10%.

Based on the first two laws, which are almost certain to be implemented, the tax rate on Chinese steel, aluminum products and related derivatives exported to the United States has reached 60%. If Article 3 is implemented, the tax rate will be as high as 70%. This will undoubtedly be a very heavy blow to importers in the United States. It is highly likely to lead to a large number of refunds and cancellations of future orders by US importers.

As we all know, China is the largest supplier to the United States, and high import tariffs will undoubtedly increase the burden on American buyers and the American people. Even without sourcing from China, it should be difficult to find quality producers with comparable prices anytime soon. After all, they choose to purchase from China, which shows that China has absolute advantages in all aspects.

Trump initiated the imposition of tariffs on China in order to protect the US manufacturing industry and other reasons, and China also responded with tariff increases at the first time.

  1. Impose a 15% tariff on U.S. coal and liquefied natural gas.
  2. Impose a 10% tariff on US crude oil, agricultural machinery, large vehicles and pickup trucks.
  3. Import goods listed in the Annex originating in the United States shall be subject to additional duties on the basis of the existing tariff rates.

For the American buyers who have been doing CIF and FOB, if possible, they can choose to try to provide DDU and DDP services, Usure International Logistics Co., Ltd. to reduce the cost of tariff increase as much as possible.
